We want your views on our proposal to introduce a Selective Licensing scheme in a designated area. The consultation will run until midnight on 10 September 2020

Prior to the COVID 19 restrictions, Environmental Health were consulting on a proposal to introduce selective licensing to an area within the borough. 

Following a review of the current situation and relevant Government Guidance we have taken the decision to resume the consultation from 23 July 2020.

 

Online events: 

Because of the ongoing social distancing measures, there will be two online events for people to hear about the proposals, ask questions and put across your views. To book, please follow the survey link to MEL Research.

To improve standards in private rented properties, we are proposing to introduce Selective Licensing in an area of Royal Greenwich and would like to hear your views.

What is Selective Licensing?

Any privately rented single family property within a designated area will need to be licensed with the council.

Where will it be?

Within Woolwich Common, Glyndon, Woolwich Riverside, Shooters Hill and Plumstead Wards.

What will it do?

  • Improve living conditions for many tenants in the private sector
  • Support good landlords and tackle rogue landlords
  • Improve the area
