The Greater London Authority 'High Streets for All' funding bid

The Greater London Authority (GLA) has launched the High Streets For All (HSFA) Challenge.  It is inviting local partnerships in every borough to develop bids for up to £200,000, for innovative high street recovery strategies and proposals. These strategies can support an entire high street or focus on an innovative exemplar high street recovery project. However, the £200,000 available is relatively modest, and will be used to invest  to test out what sort of strategies work in supporting the town centres.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has focused on Greenwich town centre for its bid. The aim is to support the recovery of the high street that has been affected by the negative impact of COVID. The visitor numbers and hospitality sector have been hit hard and it has taken its toll on local businesses in the area.

The ideas which Royal Borough of Greenwich is developing for the GLA bid are:

  • To encourage visitors (local and further afield) both during the day and in the early evening

  • To support and develop the markets in the town centre as a way of attracting visitors and spend

  • To develop ways in which cultural events, improved lighting and wayfinding can help encourage visitors and support local businesses

Royal Borough of Greenwich is consulting on the ideas it is developing for this stage of the bid.  Please answer the following questions if you would like to submit your views as part of this consultation by 11 October.  These questions are asking what you think are priorities for improving Greenwich Town centre for visitors, whether these are local residents, domestic or international visitors.
